Saints vs Sinners ... The New Segregation

This is simple but true. You don't need the light IN the light. You need it in darkness. We are called to be the light of the world, yet many of us don't care to approach any type of darkness. Perhaps we don't want the darkness to 'get on us'? Understand this... no matter how dark it is, even something as small as a match light makes a difference. Don't talk about people who are lost and can't find their way when you who have the light aren't willing to show up and help them see. Sunday service should be for recharging our lights, not for showing them off.

Matthew 5:14-16 - “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.

Less Divorces Happen When You Do This FIRST!

Success in marriage is more than FINDING the right person. It's BECOMING the right person. Far too often we look for WAY too much from the other person. Learn to laugh, have peace, enjoy life, and basically LIVE on your own. In doing so, you may be surprised to find out just how much you actually DON'T need from another person. Clearing the clutter in your own life helps you better recognize the clutter in someone else's life sooner.

1 Timothy 6:11 - But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.

The Secret To Letting It Go

Worrying about an issue keeps our hands tied to it. Trusting God puts the issue in His hands. Whose hands do you trust more? There are times that God simply does not do what we thought he should have. Don't trust your thoughts... trust the One who created your mind. He's been doing this a long time. He knows. He sees. He's in control.

Proverbs 3:5 - Trust in the Lord with all your heart. Never rely on what you think you know.

Love Wins ... My Trayvon Martin Conclusion

God always wins. There really is no comparison. God is also love, and since this is the case, love always wins. I have accepted this as my reality. I hate what happened to Trayvon Martin. I hate how the justice system is seemingly slanted against people of color and has been for decades. I cannot, however, have actions of hate because hate NEVER wins. Love does. Like many of you, once the verdict was read on Saturday, I reacted. I did some things and said some things out of my humanity. I won't beat myself up for that because I'm human. The true essence of who I have chosen to be however  is a man of God, therefore a man of love. If it is true that love wins, I right now divorce myself from feelings of entrapment, victimization, helplessness and defeat. True vindication comes from the fact that I will, in love, do my part to make a difference in my home and my community both locally and nationally. God (love) will handle the rest. When it's all said and done, we don't lose with love. Hate makes a disappointment look like the end. Love convinces us that the end is never the end unless we win.

1 Corinthians 13:8a - Love never fails.

This Is Why Doors Don't Open For Many

Some of God's promises to us are like the automatic doors at the supermarket. The doors won't move until we walk toward them. Our humanity demands that we see the path free and clear FIRST.. God wants our trust and obedience first. Your movement activates the sensor on the door of God's promises to open... so plan your first steps TODAY! If God has given the directive, be obedient, because nothing happens until YOU move.

James 2:17 - Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
