Intentions Are Like Checks...

Intentions are like checks. They are worthless until you can cash them. Good intentions without application have the same result as no intentions at all. A little bit of something is better than a whole lot of nothing. Intentions to feed my hungry children are noble, but they remain hungry if that's all I have. It's not what you intend to do that get's results. It's what you DO! So, what are you DOING?

Mat. 21:28-31 - 'What do you think? A man had two sons, and he came to the first and said, “Son, go work today in the vineyard.” And he answered, “I will not”; but afterward he regretted it and went. The man came to the second and said the same thing; and he answered, “I will, sir”; but he did not go. Which of the two did the will of his father?’ They said, ‘The first.’ Jesus said to them, ‘Truly I say to you that the tax collectors and prostitutes will get into the kingdom of God before you.’

Right Intentions, Wrong Application

You can have the best of intentions but the wrong application. It's important to be open to hearing God's voice for direction in everything. For example, what may have worked for you as a child may not work for your children. You may show love by buying gifts, but your spouse receives love by spending quality time. Sometimes you may try to help, but it's received as hurt. Everybody is different. You can't have a cookie cutter approach to tackling all of life's issues. If your application was wrong, most of the time, it doesn't make you bad ... it just makes you ineffective. But God knows your heart. Don't wallow in the miss. We all miss sometimes. Just do better now that you know better.

John 13:17 - Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.
